But when he set off across Poland on September 11 in an Audi A6 Sportback E-tron, speed took a back seat to efficiency. More than 45 hours later, Marczyk had covered an incredible 1338 kilometers (831 miles) on a single charge.That marathon drive on public roads didn't just blow past the Audi's official 483-mile WLTP range; it also earned Marczyk a Guinness World Record, surpassing the 747-mile mark set by a Lucid Air Grand Touring in July 2025. In other words, the Audi traveled nearly 350 miles farther than its official range, and more than 80 miles beyond the previous record. Not bad for two days' work.The record attempt began at 1:55 a.m. and followed the Vistula River across Poland. Marczyk traveled through cities including Krakow, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Toruń, and Grudziądz before reaching Hel on the Baltic Sea and turning around. That's the equivalent of driving from New York City to Savannah, Georgia. And this was no closed-course efficiency test: the run took place in regular traffic, and included changing road and weather conditions.AudiGetting there required driving techniques that are considerably different from what Marczyk normally uses on a rally stage. He made sure tire pressures were set properly, anticipated traffic to minimize unnecessary acceleration and braking, and made extensive use of regenerative braking. And the slippery shape of the car helps it to eke out every last mile of range; the A6 Sportback E-tron is the most aerodynamic Audi of all time, with a coefficient of drag of just 0.21.Of course, nobody in the real world is going to spend 45 hours creeping across the country just to avoid stopping at a charger. Still, getting 831 miles out of an EV officially rated for 483 miles is an impressive demonstration of what the car is capable of under ideal conditions.
