Image Credit: Stellantis. The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale was hardly an exercise in restraint to begin with. Limited to just 33 examples and inspired by one of the most celebrated Italian sports cars of the 1960s, it's fair to say that it already occupies rarefied territory. One customer, however, had a rather different vision for theirs. Instead of emphasizing the 33 Stradale's flowing bodywork with a traditional Italian paint color, the owner wanted something darker, meaner, and unlike any of the other 32 cars. The result looks like the sort of machine Bruce Wayne might order if Wayne Manor suddenly relocated to Milan and Batman wore a designer costume. Nearly every visible surface is black, while the exposed carbon bodywork gives the familiar 33 Stradale shape a dramatically different personality.Alfa Romeo has now unveiled the finished car at its museum in Arese, Italy. Called the 33 Stradale "Perla Nera," or Black Pearl, it's officially a one-off created through Bottega Alfa Romeo with extensive input from its owner. That Isn't Black PaintImage Credit: Stellantis. The Perla Nera's most distinctive feature is its bodywork, which isn't simply painted black. Alfa says this is the only one of the 33 cars to feature a fully exposed matte carbon-fiber body.Even the carbon weave was treated as part of the design. The material was laid by hand inside the molds, with individual fibers positioned to complement the contours, symmetry, and shapes of the body panels.A V-shaped carbon pattern emphasizes the hood, while a herringbone arrangement continues across the roofline. All-black wheels complete the sinister appearance, and nearly all exterior badging has been deleted so the carbon remains the visual focus. The Alfa Romeo emblems are the exception, because, apparently, even an Italian Batmobile still needs to tell everyone who built it, like a t-shirt with a giant "Gucci" logo on the chest. The Interior Is Just As BespokeImage Credit: Stellantis.Inside, black Alcantara is paired with additional carbon fiber for an almost entirely monochromatic cabin. The customization goes far deeper than merely changing upholstery and trim, though.Alfa redesigned the sports seat specifically around the owner's physique following dedicated fitting sessions. Its traditional "cannelloni" pattern was reworked and repeated across the door panels and side sills, while the headrest received a new shape and a carbon insert carrying the Perla Nera name. That name also appears elsewhere in the cabin, while the rotary selector is engraved with the owner's initials. A matching set of black Alcantara luggage carries the car's individual production number, and Quadrifoglio and Autodelta symbols provide subtler references to Alfa's motorsport history.Still A 630-HP 33 Stradale UnderneathImage Credit: Stellantis. The extensive customization hasn't changed the basic mechanical recipe. Sitting behind the cabin is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing over 630 horsepower, connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.Power goes exclusively to the rear wheels. Alfa Romeo quotes a top speed of 333 km/h, or about 207 mph, with 0-100 km/h (62 mph) taking less than three seconds.Underneath the hand-laid carbon body is an aluminum H-frame chassis and carbon-fiber monocoque. The Perla Nera therefore retains the performance hardware of the regular 33 Stradale while taking the personalization program about as far as Alfa will allow.Only 33 modern Alfa Romeo 33 Stradales are being produced, so none were ever going to be common. With its exposed matte carbon body, bespoke cabin, and owner-registered Perla Nera name, this one should stand out from the other 32 if they were ever lined up next to each other in the same parking lot.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
