Did you know that AC is selling cars here in the US? They’re not called Cobras here because of legal issues, but there is an official arm of AC Cars in America selling what it calls the AC Roadster and AC GT Coupe.A company was launched at last year’s Eyes on Design show in Detroit in June of 2025. “AC Cars is proud to announce the official launch of AC Cars America, LLC—a landmark expansion that brings the legacy of one of Britain’s most iconic automotive brands to the United States,” the company said last year. “Headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, this strategic move marks a pivotal moment in the brand’s global presence, and positions AC Cars at the heart of a key market to allow it to capitalize on its core strengths of performance, luxury, and craftsmanship.”The AC GT SuperSportAC Cars America, LLC is offering three cars:AC GT Roadster. AC GT Roadster with a starting price of $287,500, according to the website ACCA.cars. It’s powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with “up to” 654 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds. It’s an extruded aluminum monocoque chassis wrapped in a carbon fiber body. ACCA says it’s “designed to be fully road legal, available in left and right-hand drive, meet homologation standards where applicable, and incorporate modern safety features, every aspect, from the styling through to ergonomics, has been considered.”AC GT Coupe. AC GT Coupe, revealed just weeks ago, is like the Roadster but with a fixed roof. Prices start at $325,500, the ACCA website says. Its 5.0-liter V8 makes up to 799 hp and does 0-60 in a claimed 3.23 seconds. AC GT SuperSport AC GT SuperSport is a roadster body with “dramatic aerodynamic elements.” Output is a claimed 1,025 bhp. This car is “set for delivery beginning in 2027.”It’s true that you can get cars that can legally be called Cobras here in the US from Hillbank Motors and Shelby American, among others, but the difference here is heritage. “AC Cars was established in 1901, and is the UK’s oldest active vehicle manufacturer,” ACCA touts. We asked for a few details, and here are the answers we got, straight from Alan Lubinsky, chairman of AC Cars in the UK.Q: Do you use the small manufacturers’ law? They’re not brought in under the kit car laws, are they? With engines and drivetrains added later?A: AC Cars is involved with both options at the moment. Q: Are the engines and drivetrains the same as those sold in the UK and Europe?A: Predominantly yes, but we’ll review as needed in order to find the best solution.Q: AC is not using the Cobra name in the US because of the Cobra lawsuit? AC GT RoadsterA: AC Cars owns the trademark ‘AC Cobra’ in the UK, Europe, and other jurisdictions, but not the USA. Then chairman Lubinsky added, “AC Cars is Britian’s oldest automotive brand in operation, but we accept that many potential customers in the US don’t know we’re selling vehicles in America.
