Full details to come on Oct. 27Photos by Triumph and Red Bull Media.Photos by Triumph and Red Bull Media.Following the launch of the new Bonneville T40, Triumph provided a sneak preview of three more 2027 models that will be revealed in the months ahead. We've already covered what we know about the 2027 Street Triple 798, and we'll examine the new Tiger 900 shortly, but for now, we'll take a deeper first look at the 2027 Tiger 1200.Or perhaps "second" look would be more accurate, as Triumph has already shown the new Tiger's face, in two-time Dakar winner Sam Sunderland's attempt to circumnavigate the globe on a pre-production 2027 Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer. Unfortunately for Sunderland, the attempt had to be called off after the Tiger got damaged in the Australian Outback, but at least it provided us with more looks at the new design than the few preview images Triumph released.2027 triumph tiger 1200 previewFull technical details will be released October 27, and all Triumph will say at this point is the "updated 1,200cc Triple engine will increase performance and refinement, with advanced rider technology and the most sophisticated suspension package ever fitted to a Triumph motorcycle."Looking at the 2027 model juxtaposed against the current one, we can see what parts Triumph changed, and what remains the same. The engine may be updated, but from the outside, we can't spot any significant changes. The silencer has a new, slightly larger design, but the rest of the exhaust also looks similar to the current version. The fork remains a Showa unit, but we can't tell at a glance what has changed to make it more "sophisticated" than the current Tiger's semi-active suspension.2027 triumph tiger 1200 previewThe most noticeable difference is in the new front face. A new LED position light sits above the main headlight, which now sits tighter above the beak. Conspicuously placed between the position light and the windscreen is a forward facing radar, which is new to the Tiger 1200, which until now, only had a rear-facing unit. The rear radar has been repositioned, now sitting right against the tail instead of being held between the tail and the license plate holder.2027 triumph tiger 1200 previewAt the moment, Triumph has only revealed the Rally Explorer version of the Tiger 1200. If Triumph maintains the current trims, we can expect the 2027 lineup to include Rally Pro, GT Explorer, and GT Pro variants as well. The current Explorer models are equipped with a 7.9-gallon fuel tank versus the smaller 5.3-gallon tanks on the Pro models. The existing GT models run on a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel while the Rally models use a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear combination.2027 triumph tiger 1200 previewInterestingly, the 2027 Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer is shown with a 19-inch front wheel, so clearly Triumph is making some changes to its various trims. The radiator shrouds appear unchanged from the current model, but the fuel tank has a new cover, offering a bit more room in front of the seat. We can't tell if Triumph also made changes to the fuel capacities for any of the variants.2027 triumph tiger 1200 previewWe'll learn more when Triumph officially reveals full details on its 2027 Tiger 1200 on Oct. 27.Become a Motorcycle.com insider.
