Berlin-based electric scooter sharer Emmy has acquired the German business of competitor Felyx. Emmy says this will make it the largest sharing provider for e-scooters in the German market.
Felyx decided to sell its operations in Germany to focus more on growth in the Benelux region for the time being, according to the statement released by Emmy. With the acquisition, Emmy is integrating a fleet of 1,500 electric scooters into its existing operations. Emmy plans to use the additional vehicles to strengthen its fleet in Berlin and expand its presence in Hamburg and Munich.
The Felyx systems are now to be migrated to the Emmy platform. In other words, Felyx users apparently only need to download the Emmy app and can use it with their existing Felyx account. Any remaining credit is also to be transferred to the Emmy app.
Emmy, for its part, was acquired by Israeli company GoTo Global Mobility in 2021. “Those interested in moped sharing services will quickly see the benefits of this acquisition with improved access to shared mopeds whenever required, while enjoying emmy’s market-leading service level in terms of moped quality and availability,” said Gil Laser, CEO of GoTo Global. “With this deal, we expect that at any time of day, at any day of the week, users will easily find an emmy moped in close proximity.”
