Italian marque Ducati has expanded the Monster line-up with the launch of the new Monster SP in India at a sticker price of Rs 15.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Monster SP is a sportier and track-focused version of the standard model and comes equipped with numerous additional equipment. It is also is costlier by Rs 3,46,000 than the standard version. Meanwhile, the firm has opened its order books for the streetfighter and has announced that the deliveries of the new Monster SP will begin immediately.
Ducati Monster SP: Design
Over the standard trims, the new Ducati Monster SP features a MotoGP-inspired livery in Ducati Red/Racing Red/Amaranth Red paired with a Glossy Black shade. It also gets Ducati Red wheel tags and a cowl instead of a seat for pillion.
Ducati Monster SP: Engine and Architecture
Powering the Monster SP is a 973cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder Testastretta engine producing 111PS at 9,250rpm and 93Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Ducati has built the motorcycle with an aluminium frame and a GFRP sub-frame. With this, the Monster SP weighs 186kg. Notably, the Monster SP is taller than the standard Monster as it has a 840mm seat height.
Ducati Monster SP: Features and Specifications
The Monster SP features fully adjustable Ohlins NIX30 front upside-down forks and a rear mono-shock. Ducati also offers a 320mm dual disc setup with Brembo Stylema four-piston mono block callipers at the front and a 245mm single disc with a dual-piston callipers at the back. The Ohlins and Brembo Stylema setups are 0.6kg and 0.5kg lighter than the standard Monster, respectively. Further, it comes with a Termignoni-approved exhaust system, a pair of 17-inch Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, steering damper, and a lighter Lithium-ion battery.
Other features include all-LED lights, a 4.3-inch TFT instrument console, three riding modes (Sport, Road, and Wet), cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, launch control, and bi-directional quick shifter.

The new Monster SP competes against the likes of the upcoming Triumph Street Triple RS, Kawasaki Z900, and BMW F 900 R.
