We got our first look at the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept recently when the company unveiled it to much fanfare at a special event in August. It’s a stunning design exercise for what Dodge, a brand known for its V-8 muscle cars, is planning to do after V-8 muscle cars are no longer sustainable. Dodge executives say it’s a very close interpretation of the full-on battery EV that will replace the Challenger, and possibly the Charger, after the 2023 model year.
We don’t have any tech specs for the car yet, but its combination of classic 1969 Charger styling influence, modern systems and aerodynamic aids makes it look like the future we all imagined as muscle car enthusiast kids. Yet the fact that the Charger Daytona makes noise like a gas-powered car (sort of) is just crazy — but in a good way. As a package, it gives us hope that Dodge has a big, bold future in the electrified world of tomorrow.
Check the video below to see our up close look at this wild new concept that may be what Dodge has in store for us in just a year or two.
