Revived car-maker to reveal all-new EV that will be designed by famous Italian stylist
The DeLorean Motor Company has released another teaser of its upcoming pure-electric supercar and announced its DeLorean EVolved will be unveiled this August 18 2022. Giving us out second glimpse of the EVolved via a post on Instagram, this time we can clearly make out the LED rear tail lamps, slatted rear glass, slimline rear mirror and hint at the low-slung supercars styling that looks like it will taper-off dramatically.
The earlier shadowed tease revealed the original DMC’s gullwing doors will be reinterpreted for the new supercar along with a new full-width front LED light bar.
Last year, the Texas-based car-maker announced that it had teamed up with ItalDesign as part of plans to revive the iconic coupe. The link with the famous Italian styling house is that its founder, Giorgetto Giugiaro, was the man who originally designed the DMC in the late 1970s.
There’s no word on whether or not the 2022 DeLorean EVolved will be clothed in a stainless-steel body, as per the original.
Beneath the skin it’s been tipped that the DMC will be the beneficiary of an all-new pure-electric powertrain that’s currently being developed by both ItalDesign and British firm Williams Advanced Engineering. The new powertrain and architecture could combine up to 1000kW of power with a 1000km range. DeLorean Motor Company has not revealed when exactly the new DMC will be revealed nor given any indication on how expensive it is likely to be when it makes its debut in August.
As well as the all-new EV, DeLorean Motor Company has also released another vid on its social channels revealing it is well underway building the first batch of 300 continuation models that it announced back in 2019.
