According to MotorTrend, in 2015, Chevy added a new transmission to the Silverado 1500. Known as the 8L90E transmission, this component has eight gears and is automatic. You can also benefit from a backup camera which will aid when you are towing with your full-size truck.

How much should you pay for a third-generation Silverado 1500?

In terms of cost, Silverado 1500 models from 2014-2018 do vary depending on configuration, mileage, and condition. You can get a bare-bones model with over 100,000 miles for around $20,000. But, if you want a higher trim level with lower mileage, you will likely pay over $30,000. But that is still cheaper than a Chevy Silverado made in 2022.

You should not have to break the bank in order to get a full-size truck. And although you might have to make some compromises when purchasing used, you can still get a decent pickup that has plenty of life left in it.

Although the third-gen Silverado is certainly a solid truck, plenty of modern pickups are worth buying pre-owned. Manufacturers work hard to produce a reliable product, but there will always be some problems with different models. So, if you are buying used, conduct the proper research.
