The diminutive Volvo EX30 small SUV is set to be revealed next month, with the brand releasing a teaser video confirming a pre-order date upon its reveal.
But at the same time, leaked patent images of the entry-level electric car have given us a proper look at what to expect from the EX30’s design.
Volvo CEO Jim Rowan had already told us previously that the EX30 would be revealed “sometime in the middle of June”, but the brand’s teaser and announcement today confirmed that the June 7 reveal date would also coincide with pre-orders opening for “selected markets”.
No further details of the model have been confirmed, short of a few glances at its design elements in a video, though there are some educated assumptions that can be made about the entry model to the brand, expected to sit below the XC40/C40 in terms of size and positioning.
While it’s expected the model will ride on a smaller version of the SPA2 EV platform from the EX90, it’ll be a little smaller than the 4425mm long and 1863mm wide C40 small SUV.

Given the XC40 Recharge starts from $76,990 before on-road costs as of its latest update, Jim Rowan has indicated a much lower price point for the EX30 to appeal to a younger audience.
“We’d like to get some more young people into the brand, let’s say, and that will be a really nice price point I think for an entry,” said Rowan.

We’re going to talk to a completely different demographic for the first time and that younger demographic will probably be the ones who shop more online.”
The XC40 and C40 Recharge both use 69kWh batteries in their base form, the XC40 boasting a range of 460km and a 175kW output. Expect the EX30 to be short of many of these metrics.
