Bermaz Motor is expected to launch a new locally assembled (CKD) in the first quarter of next year, according to a report by RHB Investment Bank.
The investment bank added that the CX-30 now contributes around 4 to 21 percent of ’s total sales in Malaysia, and the new CKD model is expected to increase this further.
Currently, the Mazda CX-30 is imported (CBU) from Japan. Prices are as below:
- 2.0G Core: RM 149,000
- 2.0G High: RM 164,000
- 2.0G Ignite: RM 173,000
- 1.8D High: RM 173,000
- 2.0G Ignite AWD: RM 185,000
No price estimates for new 2023 CKD Mazda CX-30 have been given but our own sources at Mazda’s dealer network say that a circa 10 percent reduction, at least, is a reasonable estimate.
Specifications of the CKD model will more or less remain the same, but some say the sunroof – available on all CBU variants except the entry Core model – could be dropped.
The CKD model will be produced at Mazda Malaysia’s plant in Kulim. Mazda Malaysia is a 70:30 joint venture between Mazda Motor and Bermaz Motor, and is responsible for local assembly of Mazda vehicles at the Inokom automotive manufacturing campus, where the Mazda plant is located.
