French carmaker Citroen is set to bring an all-new C3X crossover sedan to India according to a new report. The Citroen C3X will be the 4th vehicle based on the C3 platform to be made in India.
Citroen had revealed at the launch of the C3 Aircross that it was working on one more car based on the C3 platform for the Indian market. The new report states that the French carmaker is going down the quirky route with its 4th C3 branded vehicle.
Like the other cars based on the C3’s modular CMP platform, the new C3 will distinguish itself from its rivals with an innovative design. The new C3X which has the codename CC22 will in essence be a sedan with a high ground clearance.
The new C3X crossover sedan will feature a design at the front that is quite similar to that of the C3 hatchback. Post that, the new C3X will feature a tapered roofline that slopes gently into a notchback-style rear end.
This design follows what Citroen has been doing in other markets with the C4X and C5X crossover sedans. The raised sedan is also expected to feature quite a bit of body cladding as well.
The interiors are expected to be shared with the other vehicles based on the C3’s platform. So expect a large central touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and a bright orange colour option for the dash among other highlights.
In terms of its size, the new Citroen C3X sedan will be around 4.3 to 4.4 metres long and is likely to feature the same wheelbase as the recently launched C3 Aircross SUV.
Underneath the bonnet of the new C3X sedan, Citroen is expected to slot in the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the C3 and C3 Aircross. This engine is good for 109bhp and 190Nm of torque and is currently offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox in the C3 and C3 Aircross.
Like the C3, the new C3X is expected to spawn an all-electric version of itself around half a year after its expected launch in 2024. As for its launch timeline, the new C3 Aircross is expected to be launched sometime in mid-2024 with an all-electric version set to follow in early 2025.
Thoughts About The Citroen C3X
The fact that Citroen is set to bring an all-new C3X shows that the French carmaker is more than willing to take a risk in a market which has by far mostly shifted away from sedans. However, for the small section of us who still prefer sedans, the C3X’s arrival will be that small ray of sunshine that raises hopes on a rather rainy day.
