French brand says it's throwing in the towel when it comes to people movers
Citroen has announced that it will draw a close to more than three decades of making people movers when it pulls the plug on production of its C4 Spacetourer this July. Already quietly withdrawn in Australia, the Citroen C4 Spacetourer (or Grand C4 Picasso as it was previously known) will not be replaced, says Citroen.
Instead, the seven-seat people mover will be indirectly replaced by the van-based pure-electric e-Berlingo and e-Spacetourer that are offered in Europe but not here.
First introduced back in 2014, the C4 Picasso follow a long line of useful and practical people movers made by Citroen that first date back to the 1994 with the eight-seat Citroen Synergie/Evasion that was created as part of an alliance with Peugeot, Fiat and Lancia. Instead of investing in a replacement for the C4 Spacetouter, Citroen says it will refocus on developing its SUV range.
Currently, Citroen in Australia offer just three vehicles in its line-up – the C3 hatch, C5 Aircross SUV and the new C4 crossover.
