The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a bold and muscular exterior design, a spacious and luxurious interior, an excellent powertrain, and impressive handling. Some consider it the ultimate combination of power, style, and innovation.
But surprisingly, Edmunds gave the 2023 Silverado an average overall score of 7.5 out of 10. Its key rivals, the 2023 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra, have an average overall score of 8.5, 8.4, and 8.0, respectively. 1. Performance
The Silverado 1500 drives and performs well. It accelerates to 60 mph in about 7 seconds, compared to F-150’s 5.7 seconds. The transmission shifts smoothly, and the braking and acceleration are enough for towing, hauling, or everyday driving. It feels stable and easy to control, and the body doesn’t move much in turns. But if you hit bumps in the middle of a turn, it feels unstable and hard to control.
2. Comfort
Although the heated seats aren’t as plush as the Ram 1500’s or the F-150’s, they are comfortable even on long drives. The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 drives smoothly but will feel bouncy on roads with frequent bumps and dips. The cabin is quiet, but you can hear engine noises if you press the accelerator pedal harder.
The climate system is effective, but the control buttons could be too small for some drivers.

3. Interior
The Silverado comes with a long-awaited interior upgrade. It is more modern than its predecessor and has easy-to-use controls. The interior space is enough for adults in both cab configurations, with lots of headroom and legroom. Although some trims have high ground clearance, the seat positioning and wide door openings make it easy to enter and exit.
4. Technology
The modern interior features a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, a Google-powered voice recognition system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a phone storage space. Some trims come with a wireless charger. The Silverado features lots of driver aids and safety features, such as cameras and a rear cross-traffic warning system.
5. Towing and storage
The Silverado 1500 has a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds, higher than the GMC Sierra 1500 (13,200) and Ram 1500 (12,750) but less than the F-150 (14,000). It has a range of bed lengths to fit different needs and several clever storage pockets throughout the cabin.
6. Fuel economy
The 2023 Silverado has a low fuel economy, but some powertrain options are more efficient. It ranges from 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for the diesel-fueled six-cylinder engine option to 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway for the 5.3-liter V-8.
7. Value
The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is priced higher than its key rivals, but it doesn’t offer anything that justifies the price.
The features, style, and interior quality are pretty much what you will find in its rivals at a lower price. While the interior looks modern, it borrows many designs and pieces from previous models. It also offers average warranty coverage.
Believing the value category holds the Silverado back, Edmunds gives it the lowest score of all other categories. The key mistake is that the Chevrolet doesn’t offer owners of the Silverado 1500 enough value for their money.

8. Wildcard
The Chevy Silverado 1500 is fun to drive thanks to its aggressive appearance, high driving position, and strong towing capabilities. But the outdated interior from previous models may not appeal to everyone.
The Silverado 1500 needs more features to provide better value
The mediocre score from Edmunds can be attributed to the low value it offers compared to its rivals. Its price is higher than its key rivals’, but it offers no additional style, features, or interior advantages.
Chevy would be wise to either include more features for the price or drop the price down a little to make it a more competitive option in the full-size truck market.
