CATL has struck multiple battery supply deals for commercial electric vehicle applications at the IAA Transportation 2022 event in Hanover, Germany. On Friday, the Chinese battery supply company announced it had signed a strategic partnership agreement with Trailer Dynamics and a Memorandum of Understanding with KYBURZ Switzerland.
CATL said it reached a partnership agreement with German startup Trailer Dynamics, a company shaping long-haul e-transportation for zero-emissions logistics with its e-Trailer. CATL’s platform-based battery system products will be used in Trailer Dynamics’ e-Trailer projects with configurations set to offer various kWh capacities.

Additionally, CATL signed an MOU for distribution with KYBURZ Switzerland, which is the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in Switzerland. Its products are geared toward delivery companies, industry, and private individuals. The companies plan to enter a distribution agreement to promote CATL product sales, the battery company said in a press release. The companies could extend its current cooperation to more EV projects, it said, to promote faster electrification in the European market.

CATL is the world’s largest battery supply company in the world, with some of its largest clients being Tesla, Li Auto, and Xpeng. CATL is expanding its global operations by examining potential production facilities in Europe and North America. However, its main business still remains in China.
The Daimler Truck Supplier award was also given to CATL in the “Innovation” category, it said in the release. The award was given for developing and producing world-class high-voltage battery systems utilized in long-range electric vehicle applications. These systems will be utilized in some of the most exciting commercial applications this year, including the eActros LongHaul, which was unveiled at the IAA this year.
