These last few years have wreaked havoc on Jaguar’s sedan selection. Where once it offered several, today only the XF remains. Though on the bright side, it’s officially the cheapest new Jaguar you can buy. But if it’s still a bit too pricey, used Jaguars offer similar levels of performance and luxury at appreciably lower prices. And if you want a sedan that still looks sharp, the 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged currently listed on Cars & Bids is one cool bargain cat.

It might be hard to believe now, but only a few decades ago, Jaguar’s cars were often considered stodgy but comfortable cruisers. However, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the British brand started shedding that perception. First, it introduced sportier sedans like the X308 XJR. Then, it jumped back into the sports car game with the stylish X150 XK and XKR, which also helped launch Jaguar’s current aluminum-focused era. And shortly after it came the other helper, the first-gen ‘X250’ Jaguar XF sedan, which hit U.S. shores in 2009.

Initially, Jaguar offered the 2009 XF in two forms: Premium and Supercharged. Both feature 4.2-liter V8s, though the latter, predictably, has a supercharger bolted to it. Hence why it makes 120 more horsepower and 103 more lb-ft of torque. Admittedly, neither 2009 Jaguar XF model are as powerful as their 2010-2015 counterparts, which have 5.0-liter V8s. But a near-five-second 0-60 time still puts the 2009 XF Supercharged among some sporty modern company.

Drag-race performance, though, is just one of this sports sedan’s strengths. Firstly, even the pre-2012-facelift models look sharp inside and out today. Secondly, while the 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged has leather and wood, it also features metal trim, touchscreen navigation, and a rotary shift dial that rises when you turn the car on. And thanks to active shocks and aluminum double-wishbone suspension, the XF prowls through corners without destroying its occupants’ spines. Plus, when you’re not enjoying its highway-speed stability, you can revel in the sedan’s balance, handling, and accurate, communicative steering.

That’s also when you can really let that supercharged V8 roar.

In addition to those standard features, the 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged offered several additional luxuries and options. And the example currently listed on Cars & Bids has quite a few of those boxes checked.

As of this writing, this 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged is listed at $5013 with three days left in the auction. No, that’s not a typo. For comparison, there aren’t any XF Superchargeds with this kind of mileage currently listed on Autotrader. And the closest one costs over six times as much. In short, this is a genuine luxury sports sedan bargain.

Since it is a used luxury sports sedan, though, and a Jaguar no less, a pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended. Furthermore, used XFs can develop electrical gremlins, particularly ones in its infotainment system, CarBuyer reports. Also, these cars tend to chew through rear brake pads somewhat quickly and they can suffer from tire-pressure sensor corrosion. However, much like the X150 XK/XKR, their powertrains, even the supercharged ones, are fairly robust.

So, if you’re looking for a sleek sports sedan that won’t cost much up front, this 2009 XF Supercharged might be worth considering.
