Polestar has announced pricing and updates for its all-electric 2023 Polestar 2, which will start at $53,950 when it goes on sale in Canada in September of 2022.
That’s for the single-motor Polestar 2 Long Range, while the dual-motor Long Range will start at $58,950, both before a destination fee of $1,400. Both will qualify for a $5,000 federal electric-vehicle rebate, as well as rebates in specific provinces, including $8,000 in Quebec; and $3,000 in British Columbia.

The dual-motor is also expected to have a range increase of about 17 kilometres, bringing it to an estimated 418 km on a charge, mostly due to software improvements. Dual-motor cars with a Performance Pack will get a performance software upgrade that adds 68 horsepower and 15 lb-ft of torque — and that extra power will be available for purchase as a stand-alone upgrade for owners of dual-motor cars without the Performance Pack, including those who buy in future, with pricing to be announced later. Depending on the model, Polestar 2 provides up to 408 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque.
Another software update will apply to the mechanical heat pump, available as part of the Plus Pack. The update will deliver range improvements over a wider span of temperatures, from -7C to 25C. Within that range, the heat pump can increase real-world driving by approximately 10 per cent. Existing owners of Polestar 2 cars with heat pumps will receive a free over-the-air update to the new temperature range in future.
Other upgrades include new interior and exterior colours, new wheel designs, and optional Bridge of Weir leather upholstery. A mesh sunshade is available with the panoramic roof, and cars with an optional Plus Pack get an advanced cabin air filter.
Pricing for options on the 2023 Polestar 2 include the Plus Pack at $5,700; Pilot Pack at $4,700; and the Performance Pack at $6,750. The company – founded in 2017 by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding as a premium Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer – has Polestar Spaces stores in Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto, from which it says it can service 85 per cent of the Canadian EV market. The company plans to release the Polestar 3 SUV later this year, and the smaller Polestar 4 SUV coupe in 2023.
