The Leaf, while late to the EV party, might become the first Nissan Electric car in the Indian market
Just like rising fuel prices in India, the popularity of electric cars is rocketing through the roof. EVs are not only run clean but also boast affordable running costs. Due to the recent trends, we saw a number of manufacturers introducing new electric offerings in the market.
Nissan too is expected to enter electric mobility in the coming months. Having said this, the 2022 Nissan Leaf electric was recently spotted in Delhi NCR, and here are all the details that we know so far.
The Nissan Leaf electric was recently spotted in Delhi NCR
The Nissan Leaf spotted in Delhi NCR has a red paint scheme and it is not the first time that we saw this electric hatchback on Indian roads. While the brand is yet to officially reveal any details, it did confirm the plans of introducing an electric car in India in near future.
If rumours are to be believed, the Nissan Leaf might be the first electric car to be introduced into the brand’s portfolio. Being one of the most popular electric offerings in the global markets, the Nissan Leaf crossed a gross sales figure of over 5 lakh units in Feb 2022.
Nissan is expected to introduce the Leaf electric as a CBU unit
In India, the Nissan Leaf is expected to be offered as a CBU unit as we expect the brand to import the hatchback from Japan.
With an expected starting price of around INR 40 lakh, the Nissan Leaf will be a worthy rival to multiple other, more expensive cars like the MINI Cooper Electric, and the upcoming Volvo XC40 Recharge.
In the international markets, the Nissan Leaf gets a powerful EM57 electric motor that gets its juice from a 40kWh Li-ion battery pack. This powertrain churns out maximum power and torque output of 146 bhp and 320 Nm respectively.
In addition to this, the car also boasts a maximum range of around 240 km on a single charge while charging it using the 6kW charger will take around 8 hours. There are, however, no confirmed reports of the launch of the Nissan Leaf electric in the Indian market as of now.
