C5 Corvette With 33-Inch Tires Is Ready to Go Off-Road
C5s are cheap and plentiful, which leads to builds like this.
Trail Ready
Certain generations of the Corvette are quite common these days, and as a result, rather cheap. This includes the C5, which has become a very popular budget sports car in recent years, as well as a vehicle that many have turned into things like drag racers, buggies, and even off-roaders. The latter tag certainly applies to this C5 Corvette that recently popped up on Facebook Marketplace, as it definitely looks ready to hit the trails, if nothing else.

Lifted Sports Car
Make no mistake, however – the owner of this C5 didn’t just stuff some big tires underneath and call it a day. They actually raised the suspension four inches to make room for those beefy 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, but they also had to cut the fenders to make room for the large set of rolling stock, too.

Suspension Experimentation
The build took a bit of experimenting to make it actually drive reasonably well, as one might imagine. The seller originally added a rubber block to the rear leaf spring setup but it didn’t drive very straight, which led them to add coilovers, which solved that particular issue.

Stock Powertrain
As far as the powertrain goes, well, it’s pretty much just a stock 5.7-liter LS1 V8 that was originally rated to produce 345 horsepower, which should be more than enough to turn those large tires. In fact, we can see this off-road Corvette do its thing on YouTube.

On To the Next One
This isn’t the seller’s first foray into the world of off-road Corvettes either, as he previously built a C4 that was capable of tearing up the trails, too. By selling this one, he’s also reportedly going to move on and work on his next project, which will be something similar.

Blasphemy?
While some will obviously hate the fact that someone cut up this Corvette, it’s a high-mile car that isn’t worth a significant amount of money, and we imagine that it’s a blast to drive on paved and unpaved surfaces. In that sense, we can appreciate what’s been done here, even if it required cutting up those fiberglass fenders to make it happen.
