C4 Corvette 35th Anniversary Is One Rare Bird
Though it can be purchased for pennies on the dollar compared to other rare Corvettes.
Rare, Less Desirable
While we love the C4 Corvette around these parts, there’s no denying that in the grand scheme of things, that generation isn’t the most popular – rather, it’s arguably the least desirable among collectors and perhaps even enthusiasts alike. On the flip side, that means that even incredibly rare examples like this 1988 35th Anniversary Edition that recently went up for sale at Cars & Bids can be had for pennies on the dollar compared to other rare Corvette models.

Fine Example
GM built just 2,050 35th Anniversary Edition Corvettes in total, and this particular example is an early one – number 166, in fact. It also has just 12,900 miles on the clock, which is low by anyone’s standards, and is in fantastic condition minus a couple of typical scratches here and there.

Inside and Out
Like all 1988 35th Anniversary Edition Corvettes, this one is finished in Anniversary White with a white interior, along with a leather steering wheel and seats. There are 35th Anniversary badges throughout, reminding one that they’re not just driving any old ordinary C4.

Amenities
There are plenty of other amenities present inside the cabin as well, a list that includes power-adjustable seats, a digital dashboard, automatic climate control, AM/FM cassette radio, a Delco sound system, and rear cargo cover, to name just a few.

Powertrain
Power for this rare machine comes from GM’s L98 5.7-liter V8, which is rated to produce 240 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque. It’s routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission for decent, though obviously not spectacular performance.

Distinguishing Features
On the outside, aside from its bright white paint that covers almost every surface, there are a few other distinguishing features present on the 35th Anniversary Edition models too, such as 17-inch white-painted alloy wheels, a black removable roof panel, and 35th Anniversary badging.

Disappointing Performance
There’s no denying the fact that this rare Corvette is a nice, rare machine, but the C4’s lack of popularity also means that it didn’t exactly set any auction records. In fact, this C4 was bid up to just $16,250 and failed to sell, which is a shame. But on the flip side, anyone looking for a nice, rare fourth-gen model can still clearly get a good deal on one, at least.
