US automotive supplier BorgWarner is investing an undisclosed amount in its Ramos Arizpe Campus in Mexico. The move will create some 280 new jobs.
The company plans to “produce innovative battery cooling plates destined for a carmaker’s next generation of electric vehicles” at the site. Joe Fadool, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Emissions, Thermal and Turbo Systems, adds: “This significant investment by BorgWarner will allow us to continue advancing, improving and expanding manufacturing capabilities, and above all it will reinforce the quality and reliability of our products in the eyes of our customers.”
In February, the company received an order for the above-mentioned cooling plates from “a major German vehicle manufacturer”. The cooling plates are “its battery and e-mobility capacities” in Europe and the US.
BorgWarner seems to be on an expansion spree. Last month, the company announced upgrades for its US facilities in South Carolina and Michigan to increase its battery and e-mobility capacities there.
