bmw malaysia partners with jomcharge – 10% off on charging sessions, extra free credits for owners

BMW Group Malaysia has announced a new partnership with local charging network operator JomCharge to introduce BMW Charging, a special one-time offer for its customers.

In addition to granting access to more than 100 charging facilities operated by Jom Charge, including Gentari chargers by Petronas, the BMW Charging package also offers BMW and Mini customers a 10% discount on all charging sessions for a year.

The BMW Charging package is priced at a one-time fee of RM640, and will be valid for a year from the month of registration or until the credits run out, whichever comes first.

The RM640 will be credited into the customer’s account to be used for charging sessions, and as part of the exclusive package for BMW and Mini EV owners, the package will also include extra complimentary JomCharge credits worth RM160, for a total package value of RM800.

After the expiry of the package, customers will be able to continue using the JomCharge charging network via the standard pay-per-use basis.

BMW Group Malaysia’s Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability, Sashi Ambi said, “An integral part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the electromobility landscape in Malaysia are our strategic partnerships with industry leaders in the charging infrastructure for EVs such as JomCharge, as well as ChargEV and Tenaga Nasional Berhad in the coming months.

“With our shared goals and diversified expertise, we are bringing more key infrastructure and access to these charging platforms to our ever-growing community of existing and potential EV owners here.”

Managing Director of EV Connection, Ir. Lee Yuen How added, “As the operator of the JomCharge network in Malaysia, our goal is to promote greater Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) adoption in Malaysia by offering transformative, customer-centric infrastructure – which is exemplified through our extensive public charging network.

“This partnership with BMW – a leading premium EV automaker here, enables us to meet our ZEV adoption goals by working together to instil greater confidence amongst the public in our local electromobility ecosystem.”

To date, BMW Group Malaysia has provided BMW and Mini EV owners with access to over 550 charging facilities nationwide, mainly powered by its industry partners including Jom Charge, Gentari, and ChargEV – the latter including 26 chargers at 17 Starbucks stores within Klang Valley, Penang, Malacca, and Johor.

There are also over 80 BMW i charging facilities available at most authorised BMW and Mini dealerships nationwide, accessible via the ChargEV and GO TO-U mobile applications. BMW Group Malaysia adds that a strategic infrastructure expansion plan is already in place for 2023.
