SINGAPORE
The all-new BMW M2 performance coupe is set to arrive in Singapore in the second quarter of this year, according to BMW Asia which revealed the news at a BMW M Club of Singapore event last weekend.
The new M2 was officially announced late last year, and retains the rear-wheel-drive setup from its predecessor. Power come from a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six engine that produces 460hp and 550Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds when paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Other performance highlights include an Active M Differential, which can send up to 100 percent of the car’s power to the rear wheels as desired, as well as an M-specific steering wheel with preset M Drive buttons.
BMW Asia has also confirmed that it will be offering a limited run M2 Purist Edition, which will come with M Carbon bucket seats, a M Driver’s Package that raises the speed limiter from 250km/h to 290km/h, and more crucially, a six-speed manual transmission.
Full spec and pricing details will be announced closer to the car’s launch date here, but based on current COE levels, expect the M2 to retail at somewhere around S$400,000 or so with COE.
