Minivans and people movers may be the least desirable things for us to drive but the latest concept from the Ingolstadt based brand may change that. The new Audi Urbansphere is the third of its next-generation cars to showcase its future and looks, by far, the most comfortable.

Not too long ago, Audi teased us with the sleek Grandsphere which was dubbed as a private jet for the road. Before that was the Skysphere which made its debut at Pebble Beach but the latest addition into the trio boasts neither of the sporty profiles from its predecessors and rather trades them in for space and luxurious comfort.

There is still some relation since the Audi Urbansphere is based on the same Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture as the Grandsphere which means it measures in at 5510 mm in length with a 2010 width and a fairly tall 1780 mm height. It has been designed with megacities in mind, specifically the Chinese market, and will boast level four autonomous driving capabilities.

Audi states: “We took the requirements that our customers have for the cabin of such a car for the interior. They were the centre stage of our development work.” As you can expect, the exterior is purely to house the commodious and plush interior of the four seat people mover which boasts sustainable materials such as wood and recycled polyamide for the seats.

The model is stated to be equipped to offer a lounge or mobile office experience as a third living space, for when owners are stuck in the dreaded traffic. A retractable steering wheel, pedal assembly and dashboard are all testament to this autonomous ability.

While this kind of vehicle isn’t something that has a drivetrain worth mentioning the dual electric motors, positioned on the front and rear axles which produce a total of 295 kW and 690 N.m should be sufficient to still push occupants into their seats comfy, recycled seats.
