We pick our top five tech features of the recently unveiled Audi e-tron GT
What is there to say about a car like the Audi e-tron GT, an electric high-tech four-door coupé which combines emotive design with a powerful drive and dynamic handling? It is certainly easy to run out of superlatives when discussing the e-tron GT as the car is set to become rarefied air even in the world of the billionaires who park their cars in air-conditioned 10-vehicle garages.
It also happens to be the most anticipated electric vehicle of the year. The astounding level of craftsmanship, emotion and engineering that has been poured into the e-tron GT is unmatched. When you’ve grown weary of what the likes of Tesla, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar have to offer in terms of luxurious electric vehicles, the e-tron GT is waiting to demonstrate to you the next step in electric mobility.

The Battery Power
Powering the Audi e-tron GT quattro and the RS e-tron GT are 33 cell modules, each of them comprising twelve pouch cells with a flexible outer skin. The high-voltage battery can store 85 kWh of energy in both models. All of this allows it to recharge energy for up to 100 kilometers in just over five minutes when making use of the DC terminal as the e-tron GT achieves charging capacity of up to 270 kW.
All of this charging power gives the Audi e-tron GT quattro an average range of up to 488 kilometers and 472 kilometers for the RS model.
There’s plenty of connectivity options
The e-tron GT comes standard with access to the myAudi Connect app. We first saw the app in the 2021 Audi A4 model. This is where owners can control many functions of their Audi vehicle such as remote control of the locking system, charging, and climate control.
There’s also the optional Audi connect navigation & infotainment package which includes services such as traffic information online, navigation with Google Earth™, and Amazon Alexa. Car-to-X services can warn in case of a hazard and can help to find free parking spots on the roadside or allow the driver to surf the green wave by communicating with traffic lights.
In total there are eleven antennas, all of them are invisibly integrated into the car and connect the e-tron GT with the outside world. They receive and transmit audio, LTE, Bluetooth, and GPS signals, and thereby connect the fully electric gran turismo to the environment and its owner in many ways.
All the screens
We’re more impressed with Audi e-tron GT’s cabin. True to Audi’s tradition there are two large displays with the driver operating Audi’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit plus via the multifunction steering wheel and controls the central 10.1-inch MMI infotainment system. Android Auto and Apple Carplay come standard, as does natural voice control which allows the driver to give the system verbal commands.
Sound features
Audi has composed a unique sound for the e-tron GT. The new vehicle features an optional e-tron sport sound that comprises two control units and amplifiers in boot. They generate a separate exterior and interior sound, which is output by two loudspeakers each outside and inside the vehicle.
For audiophiles, there is the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System which delivers an output of 710 watts. Among the 16 loudspeakers are two 3D loudspeakers located in the A-pillars.
Audi e-tron GT has all the high-tech safety features
Looks, of course, are not the only criteria by which we judge a performance electric car: safety is essential, too. The 2022 e-tron GT comes with Audi pre sense front, Audi pre sense basic safety systems and lane departure warning system are standard, which suggest there’s another reason you might want to opt for the e-tron GT rather than its Taycan cousin.
Another highlight is the remote park assist plus, it maneuvers the Audi e-tron GT into and out of a parallel or bay parking space by simply pushing a button either by sitting inside the vehicle, or outside via the myAudi app. By keeping the corresponding button pressed, the car will roll into the space, in multiple maneuvers if necessary.
