DAF Trucks is planning to sell at least 75 electric trucks to the UK. The British truck rental company Asset Alliance ordered a total of 1,500 new trucks from the Dutch manufacturer, and while the majority diesel trucks, at least 75 are to be electric. Deliveries are due to start this year.
The electric trucks themselves are from the newest generation DAF XF, XG and XG+ vehicles, and feature ranges of up to 500 km. The trucks are also not actually out yet, and production will commence in the spring of 2023. DAF Trucks also cites the DAF LF series, which features a 270 kilometre range, “which make them the perfect vehicles for inner-city and regional distribution”.
The XD Electric is designed for heavy distribution transport and, depending on customer requirements, has e-drives that produce between 170 and 350 kW and a range of battery packs for ranges of 200 to over 500 kilometres that can be charged with up to 325 kW.
The LF Electric is also intended for distribution transport, but is a good deal below the heavy XD Electric. This is a 19-tonne truck with two axles and a payload of 11,700 kilograms, which has already been on offer since September 2021.
