No more power for super-coupe but gets new levels of customisation, including an illuminated grille
Just days after BMW updated its 8 Series, Alpina has released pictures and full details of its revised B8 Gran Coupe ahead of its European launch this July.
The biggest change externally is the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe adopts the new BMW Iconic illuminated grille that gets new inserts within the air intakes for a more assertive look.
Fresh paint is also available, with the new option of a Portimao Blue and Sanremo Green, Skyscraper Grey, Frozen Pure Grey and Frozen Tanzanite Blue joining Alpina’s already exclusive blue and green hues.
Inside, the Alpina gets a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen that’s two inches bigger than before. There’s also illuminated Alpina door sills and an iDrive Controller finished in crystal glass with a lasered Alpina logo on it.
Each B8 also comes with a hand-stitched steering wheel that’s wrapped in natural leather.
Standard equipment now includes the BMW Driving Assistant Professional that includes the brand’s latest driver assistance aids, including a parking assistant.
Beneath the bonnet the pre-refresh powertrain carries over, that means the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 still produces the same 457kW and 800Nm of torque – enough for 3.4 second 0-100km/h sprint and a 324km/h top speed.
Like before, the B8 Gran Coupe comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The bespoke stainless-steel sport exhaust remains, as well as a standard set of Alpina 20-inch rims that can be upsized to 21-inch wheels.
There’s no word if there’s been any price bumps over the $322,900 (plus on-roads) Alpina charges for the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe, that only arrived in Australia at the tail-end of 2021 but it’s thought the revised model should land here before the end of the year.
