There’s even more to love about Australia’s favourite full-size pickup with the all-new RAM 1500 Laramie
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, but size does matter. No… not like that. But if you’re a big Aussie family living it large and searching for a dual-cab ute that can truly do it all – from carting the kids around town to hauling the caravan out of it — then the all-new RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab is perfect proof that bigger is better.
Already established as Australia’s favourite full-sized pick-up, the all-new 2021 DT RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab brings a wealth of standout new features that further improves its ability to blend the space, convenience and comfort of a luxury SUV with the capabilities of a rugged four-wheel drive and the utility of a genuine workhorse.
The RAM 1500 is uniquely positioned between mainstream dual-cab utes and larger heavy-duty models like its RAM 2500/3500 siblings. This means it offers significantly more interior space and capability than conventional dual-cabs without being too big to drive in everyday traffic.
Rear passengers are treated to as much leg room as a limousine, as well as heated seats that can recline for more comfort on long trips, air conditioning vents, twin USB charging outlets and a clever cupholder arrangement on the back of the centre console that can also securely hold a tablet device.
There is an electric sliding rear window for better ventilation and also handy hidey hole storage bins under the floor on each side large enough to store extra drinks and snacks, wet clothing or dirty boots.
If you’re not carting passengers, the rear seat cushions can flip-up, revealing a flat-floored area for additional cargo-carrying capacity. Clever!
For the driver and front-seat passenger, the RAM 1500 Laramie is packed with the latest in high-tech conveniences and luxuries, including leather-trimmed, 10-way power adjustable seats with lumbar support and three levels of heating and ventilation. There’s dual-zone climate control and a 12-inch portrait-style U Connect colour touch screen display with sat nav, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The RAM 1500 Laramie’s premium-quality 900w Harmon Kardon audio system boasts 19 speakers and it is so smart, it even adds to the RAM’s luxurious ambience when it’s not being used. This is thanks to Active Noise Cancelling technology – the same used in high-end headphones – to produce ‘white’ frequencies that counteract unwanted sounds like wind and road noise. In conjunction with acoustic glass, this makes the RAM 1500 driving experience quieter and more comfortable.
Exclusive HEMI V8
On that, the RAM 1500 is the only vehicle in its class to be powered by a legendary HEMI V8 that produces 291kW of power and 556Nm of torque.
The smooth and yet muscular 5.7-litre engine is linked to a sweet-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission and features a clever Multi Displacement System (MDS) that can shut down to run on just four cylinders when less power is needed, such as while cruising at highway speeds.
New for the DT model, it now also features a 48V e-Torque mild hybrid system that improves fuel economy by supplying an additional 12kW via its integrated belt generator that allows for more effortless acceleration away from a standstill, extended use of the MDS when driving and a seamless auto stop-start system when stationary.
To further reduce fuel consumption, the RAM 1500’s sleek new body panels make it the most aerodynamic vehicle in its class. This is further enhanced by active front grille shutters that can limit air flow to the radiator when the engine is cool to reduce drag.
As a result, the RAM 1500 Laramie is an immensely capable machine in any environment – whether it’s being used as a tool of the trade or trailering the caravan or boat around the country.
For starters, it offers a class-leading 4.5-tonne maximum braked towing capacity and its 5.7” tray, which comes standard with a spray-in bed liner and is large enough to carry a full-size Australian pallet, with room to spare.
The RAM 1500 can be also had with either a standard, style-side tray or with the optional RamBox® configuration that provides clever lockable storage compartments on either side big enough to securely house tools, sporting equipment or even be filled with ice and drinks at the campsite.
Plus, the RAM 1500 has a smart four-wheel drive transmission, limited slip rear differential, generous ground clearance and entry/departure angles that ensures it can not only conquer any boat ramp but it travel well off the beaten track to boot.
So, for those that live a big life, the RAM 1500 genuinely proves that bigger is better.
