Tesla vehicle owners can now use Apple’s CarPlay with ease.
A new and improved version of the “Tesla Android Project” was recently made available by Polish software developer Michal Gapiński.
When Tesla Android Project developer Michal Gapinski made the announcement in January that he was working on the project, he was met with support from the Tesla community.
Apparently, it appears to be a development for Tesla owners who were interested in getting Android Auto or Apple Carplay.
And now, a fully operational version can be experienced by all Tesla owners. This version makes the Apple CarPlay experience available in a greater number of Tesla vehicles than ever before.
According to Gapinski, the project now has complete integration for all Tesla vehicles as of version 2022.25.1.
After its full release, Gapinski also wrote on Twitter saying, “This wouldn’t be possible without the support from the Tesla community. Your contributions funded a build server and dev kits.”

Tesla’s CarPlay
Tesla car owners now have the option to experience the 2022.25.1 version. This current version now works for every Tesla vehicle.
Owners will also be met with added features and bug fixes that improve the user experience.
According to MacRumors, the project has been updated to support DRM video playback, which enables applications such as Netflix to operate as expected.
An orientation lock enables applications such as AppleMusic to launch automatically in landscape mode.
Finally, the hack has been updated to use Android 12.1 for improved stability and performance.
The report added, “Gapiński’s CarPlay workaround involves using a Rasberry Pi with an LTE modem and a Wi-Fi access point, running a custom Android-based firmware, as well as a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable and Ethernet cable.”
In addition, the in-car browser is used to establish a connection to the Raspberry Pi and display the CarPlay interface on the screen of the Tesla.
This allows Apple applications such as Maps and Apple Music to operate as intended.
The system continues to function even while the vehicle is in motion, and it can even be managed using the media controls located on the steering wheel of a Tesla.
Tesla Android Project
Tesla’s wide range of electric vehicles is not well suited to Android and Apple’s operating systems.
Due to their unique design, Android, CarPlay, and Android Auto are made to be compatible with Tesla vehicles.
This project overturns that convention by transforming the browser into an interactive Android or CarPlay tablet that continues to function even when the vehicle is in motion.
The first alpha version of this software was made available after six months.
According to the Tesla Android Project, ease of use has been a primary focus throughout the development of this release.
It is necessary to provide a responsive Android experience for the project if it is to achieve scalability and gain popularity within the Tesla community.
The second release, version 2022.25.1, was made available for download in June of 2022.
Gapiński mentioned that the latest iteration of the system offers completely functional CarPlay integration for any Tesla.

Apple CarPlay Experience
Apple has already announced its plan for the next generation of CarPlay integration during the recent WWDC last month.
Apple has stated that the first vehicles that support the new CarPlay experience will be announced in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The list of automakers that have committed to integrating CarPlay into their products includes: Audi, Volvo, Land Rover, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Jaguar, Nissan, Porsche, and many more.
