Next-generation V12-powered flagship coupe surfaces early and is set to boast a full hybrid powertrain
Two pictures of the replacement for the Lamborghini Aventador appear to have been leaked on Instagram just weeks before the all-new flagship V12 coupe makes its global debut.
The computer-generated images, claimed to be genuine pics of the incoming Italian supercar, reveal that the 2023 Lamborghini Aventador successor will look spookily close to the renders carsales published last month.
Already spied testing on numerous occasions, the new images of the mid-engined replacement for the current Aventador were shared by Spanish car blog Cochespias and are thought to have been pinched from either a brochure or Lamborghini’s own configurator.
As you would expect from a car that is all-new from the ground-up, the design of the new Lamborghini supercar is radically different but features design cues from the Italian brand’s back-catalogue of concepts and exclusive limited-run models, making it unmistakably a model from the Raging Bull brand.
The 2017 Lamborghini Terzo Milennio EV, for example, is said to be the inspiration for its slim triangular headlights, which feature dramatic Y-shaped daytime running lamps.
Other takeaways are the dramatic diamond-shaped bonnet dimples, aggressive front air-intakes and the car-maker’s continued obsession with use of hexagon shapes as often as possible, including for the high-mounted rear exhaust outlets.
Meantime huge side air-intakes feed cool air to what’s thought to be an impossibly powerful new plug-in hybrid powertrain, which the supercar-maker has already confirmed will once again feature a V12 configuration.
Finally, at the rear there’s a pair of slim Y-shaped tail-lights that sit either side of the twin exhausts, positioned above a huge rear diffuser.
Lamborghini is saving all the juicy details for its reveal in March, but it’s thought that with electric assistance from a front-mounted motor the Aventador successor should kick out more than 700kW in a bid to rival other hybrid supercars like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
