All three set to replace VW Up, Skoda Citigo and SEAT Mii triplets, switch to all-electric powertrains and get overt SUV looks
Volkswagen’s Spanish brand Cupra, meanwhile, seems settled on a production version of the UrbanRebel concept that was unveiled at the same show, although the name is set to change once it actually arrives on sale. Also set to be banished into the realms of concept fantasyland is the race car aero and mighty 320kW dual-motor powertrain for something more sedate and affordable. The final member of the baby EV trilogy is the Skoda that, curiously, looks like it might be inspired by the stillborn VW ID.LIfe with its boxy shape that’s set to maximise interior room. Made in the same Volkswagen-owned Spanish factory, all three will be based on the MEB Small architecture that mounts the electric motor on the front-axle and drives the front wheels. There’s no word if a dual-motor version will be offered, but it’s unlikely as the three will be priced from €20,000-€25,000 ($A30-$A37k) in Europe.
Once introduced, a fourth Audi variant will make its debut that is set to push the premium envelope with more performance and a higher-grade cabin.
