54 entries have been listed for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship’s 12 Hours of Sebring, due to place next Saturday 18th March at Sebring International Raceway.
The only change from Daytona in the headlining GTP class is the drop down to eight cars, one from each manufacturer, as the extra Chip Ganassi-run Cadillac V-Series.R was only competing at Daytona before switching to the FIA World Endurance Championship for the full season. The WEC will hold its season-opening 1000 Miles of Sebring the day before the IMSA race, on Friday 17th March.
In LMP2, there are also eight entries. The major change is the addition of Nolan Siegel to the #04 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca 07-Gibson, joining Ben Hanley and George Kurtz in the car which finished Daytona in second place in class, just thousandths of a second away from the win.
LMP3 meanwhile has 10 cars entered, and will see two teams race at Sebring which were absent at Daytona — Ave Motorsports and Jr III Racing, both using Ligier JS P320 chassis. Seth Lucas, Tonis Kasemets, and Trenton Estep will drive the former, while Ari Balogh, Garett Grist, and Dakota Dickerson will be behind the wheel of the latter.
In the GTD and GTD Pro classes, the SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO which competed at Daytona is absent, as is the NTE Sport’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2. The MDK-run Porsche 911 GT3R, which had planned to contest the full four-round Endurance Cup, of which Sebring is a part, is also absent.
The other Porsches are listed, despite recent concerns about the new 911 GT3R’s Balance of Performance. Porsche works driver, Julien Andaluer, racing for Kellymoss in the championship this year, has switched from the #91 to the sister #92, which also has another Porsche-affiliated driver, Jaxon Evans, in the car as well.
IMSA track action begins on Thursday 16th March, with the 12 hour race beginning at 2:40pm local time on Saturday 19th March.
