The Camry is a legend. This midsize car may not be the flashiest, sportiest, or most luxurious, but it does a lot of things right. The new 2023 Toyota Camry continues the legacy with minor changes and small updates for the new model year. Check out the top five things to know about the new 2023 Camry midsize sedan right now.

The 2023 Camry is one of the only midsize sedans with a V6 engine

The Toyota Camry is one of the last midsize sedans in the economy class to offer a V6 engine as an option. Gas prices are soaring, and more buyers are turning their eyes toward crossovers and SUVs.

For this reason, it doesn’t make sense for automakers to invest as much time and money into V6 engines for sedans. That means that the 2023 Camry midsize sedan is a standout in its class. You can get a V6 economy car with over 300 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque.

Without a total Toyota Camry redesign, there are no new Camry performance features to look forward to in the new model. All powertrain options carry over from the previous year.

The new Toyota Camry offers 18 configurations to choose from

The 2023 Toyota Camry Nightshade Special Edition makes its debut with a Reservoir Blue exterior paint finish, a TRD-inspired front fascia, a sport-tuned suspension, a subtle rear spoiler, blacked-out badging, as well as a set of 19-inch matte bronze alloy wheels. #Toyota #Camry pic.twitter.com/mOrH99WFdd

The Camry is currently the best-selling car of 2022, thanks partly to its variety. This midsize sedan is incredibly versatile and offers multiple trim levels, engine options, and hybrid models. For 2023, there are 18 total configurations to choose from:

  • FWD 2.5-liter gas engine: Camry LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade, and XSE
  • AWD 2.5-liter gas engine: Camry LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade, and XSE
  • FWD 3.5-liter V6 engine: Camry XLE, XSE, and TRD
  • FWD 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain: Camry LE Hybrid, XLE Hybrid, SE Hybrid, SE Nightshade Hybrid, and XSE Hybrid

I’ll hand it to Toyota—it seems to know what the people want. Cheap cars under $25,000 rub elbows with sporty V6 sedans and high-end premium options in the Camry lineup. The Toyota Camry Nightshade Edition is a unique offering, but it’s catching on. According to Toyota, this specific package “accounted for about 5% of Camry sales in 2021 and, for 2022, is on track to be about 7%.”

You can build the 2023 Camry midsize sedan in a considerable number of ways. Throw in interior and exterior colors (including the new Reservoir Blue paint color) and several package options, and there are hundreds of ways to design your Camry.

The 2023 Camry lineup includes the TRD model

We weren’t sure if the 2023 Camry’s lineup of affordable midsize sedans would include the sporty TRD model. But, according to Toyota’s release, we will see one this year.

We don’t have many details about the Camry TRD other than a nod to its existence. However, we can expect to see a standard 301-horsepower V6 engine. The model is also likely to feature the special exterior features unique to the performance-tuned TRD.

The Camry midsize sedan is covered by Toyota’s standard new-car and hybrid warranty

All Camry trim levels come standard with Toyota’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty and a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Toyota’s warranty isn’t the worst on the market, but it’s not the best. Not by far. Fortunately, the Camry is well-known for its reliability, so shoppers should be able to buy with relative confidence.

The 2023 Camry Hybrid midsize sedan is covered by an eight-year/100,000-mile Hybrid System Warranty. The battery, specifically, is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.

All Camry sedans also have complimentary maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles. 24-hour roadside assistance is also included for the first two years, regardless of mileage.

The new Camry is still in its eighth generation

The 2023 Camry midsize sedan misses out on a redesign for this year. That may be a big swing and a miss for Toyota since major competitors like the Honda Accord will see facelifts and feature boosts.

Toyota introduced the eighth-generation Camry in 2018, so it’s not all that old. But this will be the sixth model year for the generation in a highly competitive class.

It’s not all bad, though. Some of the most reliable Toyota Camry years came out of the eighth generation. With an affordable starting price, tons of models to choose from, and a bit of sprucing-up for the 2023 model year, the Camry sedan still has plenty to offer.
