There are various reports online suggesting that while the Engage might borrow a lot of elements from the Innova Hycross, these won’t simply be the badge-engineered versions of each other as was the case with Maruti Suzuki and Toyota products of the past. Additionally, the Engage will sold via Maruti’s premium NEXA dealerships. Maruti has two dealership outlets – Arena and NEXA. The former is for all the regular and established models while the latter is for the premium and newer models in the portfolio.

Yet another strong factor in favour of Maruti products over the years has been its inexpensive maintenance costs. Due to heavy localisation, the spare parts of Maruti products are cheaper compared to the other carmakers.

Interestingly, Toyota Innova is a name that has been the face of commercial taxi fleets in India since its inception. While that might not be a bad thing from the business perspective since it is the most successful product in that segment, it could be a bit of a problem for private buyers.
