You've bought or are buying a used, current-generation Suzuki Swift but you're wondering what accessories you should retrofit to the car. In this article, we'll show you 5 accessories to consider.
The current generation Suzuki Swift exemplifies the brand’s approach to affordable but fun motoring. The current generation Suzuki Swift makes use of Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform which provides a solid chassis that is especially lightweight at 875kg. This HEARTECT platform is found in the current Suzuki Swift. You can read our review of the 1.2 GLX Swift here.
Powering the range of Swifts is a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder non-turbo petrol engine that sips a claimed 4.9 l/100km of fuel (We’ll talk about the Swift Sport in another article, here’s a review of that model). It’s frugal, it’s lightweight, it’s fun to drive and has a personality. If you want an entry-level hatchback that has character, this is pretty much it. However, as fun usually tends to go with cars like these, you’d want to accessorise it a bit. We looked at 5 accessories you should consider retrofitting to your used Suzuki Swift. When you’re done looking, if you want to sell your current car quickly and easily to fund a new Swift, consider trying out our Instant Offer tool here. Once you have that cash, you can search AutoTrader for the latest used and new options for a Suzuki Swift.
1. OEM Suzuki Body Kit
If exterior style is your thing, then perhaps you can consider getting an original Suzuki body kit featuring a front and rear lip as well as side skirts. It’s worth mentioning that these parts are not painted and are only primered (ready to receive paint). You’ll have to go to a panel beater to get these parts fitted though. Part numbers are listed in the image above and you can go to any Suzuki Dealership to order them.
2. Console Box Armrest
While the Suzuki Swift has plenty of storage spaces, ie: cup holders, cubbies and pockets, the car lacks a centre console storage bin. Suzuki does provide an OEM option but also there are plenty of generic options floating around locally when you search the internet. This is pretty handy for storing keys, access cards and even sweets should the need arise.
3. Rubber Floor Mats
If you’re in a situation that involves trailing a lot of dirt or maybe you have pets that prefer to be free in the car rather than being caged up, rubber floor mats will save you plenty of stress. Now many would tend to think that there’s a pungent rubber odour associated with rubber floor mats but really it depends on the quality you buy and there will be a lingering hint of the smell. However, that worry falls away once you see how easy they are to clean.
4. Plastic Windshield Set
If you prefer fresh air rushing through the cabin and can’t deal with the wind noise and even occasional rain, we implore you to fit a set of windshields to your Swift. There’s no drilling required as these merely stick on with automotive-grade double-sided tape.
5. Infotainment System
If you want to bring your car’s stereo into the modern age, the easiest way would be to install an infotainment system. They can get quite pricey, depending on the quality, power and feature set but this OneNav unit we’ve found here is quite comprehensive with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and steering wheel control functionality. The Swift from GL trim and up already has a decent set of speakers so really this unit just ties it all together in a little bow.
