GM’s lineup of redesigned full-size SUVs are once again the subject of a recall, this time including both model-year 2021 and 2022 variants of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. Faulty rivets on the seat belt assembly are the cause.
More than 484,000 SUVs equipped with third-row seating are affected. The rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left- or right-side third-row seat belt buckle assembly may have been improperly formed. Belts with deformed rivets may not properly restrain passengers, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the rivet head formation on both sides of the third-row seat belt buckle assemblies and replace them, as necessary, for free.
