Looking for a new SUV to shuttle the family around? These are some of the best hybrid SUVs for road trips that still come in under $60,000. Depending on your priorities, these sport utility vehicles have plenty of fuel economy and safety features to keep everyone happy.

The Subaru Crosstrek is one of the best hybrid SUVs for road trips

Road Trippers knows a thing or two about the best SUVs for road trips, which is why the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is the top pick. The plug-in hybrid version comes in the top-of-the-line Limited trim, which means this Crosstrek is about as loaded as possible. This is a great road trip vehicle with all-wheel drive, heated seats, and a 1,000-pound towing capacity.

Subaru says the 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid gets 17 mpg on electric, 35 mpg with the hybrid powertrain, and 90 MPGe combined. Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist technology includes Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) also gave the 2023 Crosstrek the Top Safety Pick award.

MSRP: $36,845 (plus destination fee)

Kia’s Sportage is another one of the best hybrid SUVs for road trips

For those who want an affordable and well-equipped road trip SUV, the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is a good option. The Kia SUV can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped so you can bring even more supplies. Regarding fuel economy, it depends on the all-wheel or front-wheel drive selection. The front-wheel drive Sportage gets 42 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway, which works out to 43 mpg combined. For the all-wheel drive option, that gets 38 mpg all around.

Coming in at $27,290, this is a budget-friendly road trip SUV option. The IIHS gave the 2023 Sportage the Top Safety Pick award as well. It also comes with Kia’s best-in-class 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

MSRP: $27,290 (plus destination fee)

3 best hybrid suvs for road trips under $60,000 for 2023

A 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe | Jeep

People have been pretty excited about the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe since it was announced. This five-seater plug-in hybrid comes in five trim levels that all get 25 miles on the electric motor and 56 MPGe combined. It can also tow up to 6,000 pounds.

While the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is one of the best hybrid SUVs for road trips, this SUV can do much more than that. Off-road ready, buyers of the 4xe probably have just as many plans on the road as off the road. Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor IIHS has yet to complete testing on the 2023 4xe, but that will likely happen soon. Jeep did equip the SUV with Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Lane Management, and Forward Collision Warning.

MSRP: $59,865 (plus destination fee)

These are some of the best hybrid SUVs for road trips that you can actually get ahold of, but don’t wait too long. The best way to get a vehicle at MSRP nowadays is by placing an order through the dealership. Hopefully, that gets your family into a safe sport utility vehicle for a reasonable price.
