The is the fifth EQ model to be launched by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) after the EQA, EQB, EQC, and EQS. It is also the 20th electric vehicle (EV) officially on sale in Malaysia if you’re keeping tabs.
Can you tell which is the EQE and which is the EQS?
It’s essentially the little brother to the flagship and if you were to put them side-by-side, they look similar. Mercedes-Benz calls the streamlined jellybean/egg/Apple mouse shape a “cab-forward design with one-bow lines”.
It also costs almost less than half the price of the EQS with the lone EQE 350+ priced at RM 419,888 (OTR without insurance). The EQS 450+ meanwhile is priced at RM 698,888 (OTR without insurance).
Fully imported (CBU) from Bremen, Germany, the EQE sits on a more compact version of the Mercedes-Benz EVA platform that is also shared with the larger EQS and the upcoming .
Like its bigger brother, the EQE has its electric motor positioned on the rear axle (RWD) and on the EQE 350+, that motor makes 292 PS/565 Nm. Top speed is 210 km/h and 0-100 km/h is done in 6.4 seconds.
This is juiced up by a 90.56 kWh (usable) battery with a WLTP range of up to 669 km which is the second-longest EV range in Malaysia after the EQS 450+ (782 km). The onboard charger allows up to 11 kW AC charging while maximum DC charging is rated at 170 kW.
DC fast charging takes 32 minutes to get from 10-80 per cent charge and a 5 m charging cable will be given for wall box or public charging stations.
Not only is there no frunk, the front hood has no struts to prop it up, so it’s technically inaccessible
Though this is a dedicated EV, the EQE 350+ doesn’t come with a front trunk or “frunk” just like the EQS. Boot space is pretty decent though there is no hatchback-style tailgate like its bigger brother.
Other features that the Malaysian-spec EQE 350+ miss out from the local EQS 450+ are the rear-axle steering and Airmatic suspension. In its place are the conventional rear multilink and Comfort suspension.
The Malaysian-spec EQE 350+ also comes with the AMG Line exterior and body styling which features 19-inch AMG five twin-spoke light alloy wheels. Speaking of AMG, Mercedes-Benz announced the global debut of the seemingly hotter Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 back in February but we’d have to wait and see if MBM were to bring this over.
The EQE 350+ also gets sport seats with Artico man-made leather upholstery and Microcut microfibre, AMG floor mats, black roof liner fabric, Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, centre console in black fine-structure look, and laser-cut backlit trim with Mercedes-Benz pattern.
Another feature our local EQE 350+ also misses out on is the MBUX Hyperscreen that’s in the EQS. The EQE gets a separate driver display and central OLED portrait display with fingerprint scanner.
The infotainment display includes the MBUX augmented reality for navigation, pre-installation for remote and navigation services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, as well as a head-up display.
Other features of the EQE 350+ include:

- 4-zone automatic climate control
- Burmester 3D surround sound system
Advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) features available on the EQE 350+ are included in the Driving Assistance Plus Package which comes with:
- Active Distance Assist Distronic
- Active Lane Keeping Assist
- Active Steering Assist
- Extended automatic re-start in traffic jams
- Evasive manoeuvre support
- Pre-Safe impulse side
- Rear sensors for lane departure assistant
Parking aids are also available via the Parking Package which includes a 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist.
Deliveries for the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ are set to commence this week, so perhaps it wouldn’t be long to spot one on the road very soon.
