Australian pricing and specifications for the 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc have been announced ahead of its third quarter 2023 local arrival. Prices have risen by up to $1,890, but standard equipment for the volume-selling Style and R-Line models has increased and features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert has returned to their respective standard equipment lists post the chip shortage that removed them for the 2023 model year.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles director Michal Szaniecki said the T-Roc is continuing to boom in showrooms now that supply can finally meet demand.
“We are hearing the wants and needs of our customers, and especially in the compact SUV segment they want more technology and luxury but also greater overall value,” Mr Szaniecki said.
Newly standard for Style and R-Line variants is blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert – ‘Side Assist’ in Volkswagen jargon – while the Style has also picked up inbuilt satellite navigation, voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. These features were previously part of the $2,050 Sound and Vision Package, which is now included for a $1,790 increase on the 2023 model that saves buyers $260.
For the upper-spec R-Line, the contents of the previously optional $3,950 Luxury Package – nappa leather upholstery, heated front seats and a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory functionality – are now standard equipment as well. While its price has risen by $1,890, it’s now $2,060 more affordable compared with the pre-updated R-Line with the Luxury Package.
T-Roc CityLife and Style models are powered by a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission – the upper-spec R-Line increases those outputs to 140kW and 320Nm thanks to a larger 2.0-litre engine, which is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
