Polestar Australia has announced local pricing and specifications for the mid-life update for the Polestar 2 electric liftback. First deliveries of the 2024 Polestar 2 are due by October with the year model change adding upgraded mechanicals in the form of more driving range, a switch to rear-wheel drive for two-wheel drive variants, quicker charging and more standard equipment across the range. Pricing kicks off from $67,400 plus on-road costs, which is $3,500 more than the 2023 model.

Our engineers have worked hard to integrate important upgrades that really enhance the overall package, and they’ve made it even better. We are proud to see we can do this without increasing its carbon footprint, but rather reducing it,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
The biggest news for the 2024 Polestar 2 is that all models now offer an increased driving range thanks to upgrades to their batteries and motors, while they’re all also faster to charge now as well. Two-wheel drive models (the Standard Range Single Motor and Long Range Single Motor) are now rear-wheel drive – not front-wheel drive, as before – for greater efficiency, while the electric motor has been upgraded to produce 200kW of power and 490Nm of torque, which are big upgrades on the 170kW/330Nm offered on the pre-updated model. Thanks to upgraded battery cell technology, the claimed WLTP range for the Polestar 2 Standard Range is 532km, up from 478km of the pre-updated model.
The mid-spec 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor has earned the biggest range, however, with a WLTP-rated 654km (up from 551km) thanks to a slightly larger 82kWh battery (up from 78kWh) with upgraded cell technology. It offers slightly more power than the Standard Range model at 220kW, and boasts a 6.1-second 0-100km/h sprint time. While the Standard Range can charge at up to 135kW, the Long Range models increase that to 205kW.
Atop the range remains the Long Range Dual Motor, which adds an electric motor to the front wheels for a total of 310kW of power and 740Nm of torque – up from 300kW/660Nm. Because it can now disconnect the front motor and become purely rear-wheel drive when driving normally, plus its larger and upgraded battery, the Long Range Dual Motor can travel up to 591km on a charge (WLTP).
Buyers of the Long Range Dual Motor can also select the $9,000 Performance Pack, which lifts power to 350kW for a quick 4.2 second 0-100km/h sprint time, as well as adding forged 20-inch alloy wheels, four-piston front Brembo brake callipers with 375mm drilled front disc brakes, Ohlins dual-flow manually-adjustable dampers and gold detailing for things like the callipers and seat belts.
Across the range, standard equipment on the 2024 Polestar 2 now includes features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (with braking), a 360-degree camera, auto-dimming side mirrors and a wireless phone charger. That’s in addition to 19-inch alloy wheels, dusk-sensing all-LED lighting, auto wipers, heated front seats with electric adjustment and memory functionality for the driver, an 11.2-inch touchscreen with Android Automotive software, over-the-air updates, an inbuilt SIM for live services, Apple CarPlay, inbuilt Google apps (like Maps and Assistant), a 12.30inch digital driver’d display, a 250-watt eight-speaker sound system, four USB ports, cruise control and either black or white textile upholstery.
Safety kit includes eight airbags, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert (with braking), traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitoring, auto high beam, front, side and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.
Across the range, buyers can also choose the $6,000 Plus Pack, which adds ‘Weavetech’ upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, an air quality sensor, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel, a 13-speaker 600-watt Harman Kardon sound system, hands-free functionality for the electric bootlid, a heat pump, tinted rear windows, digital key functionality and an air quality sensor.
Also optional is a $3,500 Pilot Pack, which includes Matrix adaptive high beam functionality for the headlights, LED front fog lights with cornering ability, adaptive cruise control, lane centre assist, ‘Pilot Assist’ semi-autonomous driving functionality and emergency assist.
