American EV brand debuts tough new off-roader and confirms the mods can be retrofitted to existing models
It seems the Fisker Ocean electric SUV has been sent to Zombieland for a month or two to toughen up because the US EV-maker has just debuted a new hard-core variant of its Tesla Model Y fighter.
Dubbed the 2024 Fisker Ocean Force E, the new variant will serve as the off-road hero of the Ocean line-up when first US deliveries start in the final quarter of this year, however, the could-be Hummer EV-chaser is yet to be confirmed for our market.
Fisker opted to reveal the Ocean Force E via its social media channels as opposed to a dedicated press release, which means details are a light on for the time being, but the brand has referenced all the essentials.
“We’re ready to shake up the offroad segment with the Fisker Ocean Force E!” said Fisker via its Instagram, Facebook and Twitter channels.

“The special off-road edition will come with substantial ground clearance and ramp angles, 33-inch all-terrain tires on 20-inch reinforced wheels, specialised dampers, plus an estimated 550 horsepower.”
That translates to 410kW and should place the Force E right in the middle of the Ocean portfolio in terms of firepower given all dual-motor versions produce between 403-418kW.
This should ensure the ‘off-road edition’ is still good for a sub-4.0sec 0-100km/h sprint time, while the undisclosed but very obvious ground clearance increase should make sort work of most off-road terrain, provided there’s enough suspension travel on offer keep the Ocean in touch with terra firmer.
The amount of travel on offer will ultimately determine whether this is a genuine Hummer EV and Rivian R1S rival, or more along the lines of the Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition in being more off-road-themed than capable.

Either way, Fisker has confirmed in the comments section that all of the modifications made to create the Force E can be retrofitted to existing dual-motor Ocean variants, but it stopped short of confirming how much that would cost.
“The newly announced Force E package will be available for all AWD Fisker Oceans, including the Fisker Ocean One,” the brand said.
“More details on retroactive vehicle applications will be announced soon, please stay updated!”
Pricing and finer specification details of the Ocean Force E and the retrofittable pack will be announced later in the year, but odds are it will be powered by the 105kWh ‘Hyper Range Battery’ as seen on the other dual-motor variants.
