Introduced in April 2019, the Xpeng P7 is holding its own, having surpassed 100,000 units by March 2022, and entering new markets outside China. Xpeng Motors has confirmed that it will give the P7 a refresh in 2023, and here’s what we know about the 2023 Xpeng P7 so far:
Design
An announcement from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on November 16, 2022, revealed the design of the 2023 Xpeng P7. In spite of its nearly four-year age, the P7 still looks quite futuristic and appealing. As a result, Xpeng designers have decided not to change the recipe. The Chinese design studio has simply revised the lower, main portion of the split headlamps, making it wider and sleeker. As per the declaration, the 2023 P7 will be available with newly designed 18- and 19-inch wheels.

Interior
By now, you already know that there aren’t wholesale changes to the interior of the new P7. Spy photos reveal a familiar low-profile dashboard, two-spoke steering wheel, and smart cockpit, which includes a 10.25-inch HD digital instrument cluster and 14.96-inch 2K+ touchscreen infotainment system. The 2023 model should carry updates to the instrument cluster and infotainment system to make them more intuitive and maybe even include new features.
In contrast to the current model, the 2023 P7 has conventionally positioned cupholders and wireless charging pads on its center console. Also new is the lid covering the storage area under the central armrest.

XNGP
Xpeng Motors has revised the main section of the P7 split headlamps to accommodate a LiDAR sensor. The two LiDAR sensors should cover 180º in front of the car. We expect them to be part of XNGP, Xpeng Motors’ second-generation ADAS that’s more advanced than XPILOT, its first-gen ADAS. XNGP is capable of tackling multiple driving scenarios, even in areas without high-precision maps. Xpeng Motors calls it the last step before realizing full autonomous driving.
In addition to the dual-LiDAR system, autonomous driving hardware upgrades on the new Xpeng P7 should include dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin chips that can provide it with 508 TOPS of computing power and 8 MP HD cameras. XNet, Xpeng Motors’ next-gen neural network-based software architecture, should also be supporting XNGP.
On P7, next year, yes, we aim to launch the upgraded model to reflect the technology advancements, particularly the ones that you saw already on G9. So, the P7 will have the equally advanced autonomous driving architecture.

At least one configuration is likely to be carried over from the 2022 range, which is available with XPILOT 2.5+ and XPILOT 3.0. “Some models of the current version P7 will continue to be selling along with the updated P7,” Brian Gu, Vice Chairman and President, Xpeng Motors, said during the company’s Q3 2022 earnings conference call on November 30, 2022.
Specifications
Variants
MIIT has listed two variants of the 2023 Xpeng P7 so far: NHQ7001BEVEC (RWD) and NHQ7001BEVED (AWD). The former packs a 203 kW rear motor, while the latter couples that motor with a 145 kW motor for the front wheels. Both variants get the same top speed – 200 km/h (124 mph). There’s no word on the range, but it’s safe to assume the RWD variant will offer a CLTC range of well over 600 km (373 miles).
Charging
The 2023 Xpeng P7 “will also have the faster charging capabilities and higher voltage capabilities (of the G9), Gu said while talking about its changes during the Q3 2022 earnings conference call. We expect it to have a higher charging input that significantly shortens its fast-charging time (current model from 30 to 80%: ≥25 min). It’d be truly impressive if it can support ultra-fast charging at Xpeng Motors’ new 480 kW S4 supercharging stations.

Release Date
The 2023 Xpeng P7 should go on sale in China in Q2 2023, and may start reaching European countries by the end of next year.
