The Toyota Tacoma is one of the most popular midsize pickup trucks and has legions of passionate followers. However, the Tacoma is outdated and in desperate need of a redesign. Fortunately, though, the Tacoma will likely get a significant overhaul for the 2023 model year. Find out the release date, price, specs, and new features of the 2023 Toyota Tacoma.
When will the 2023 Toyota Tacoma be released and available?
2022 Toyota Tacoma | Toyota
Toyota did not yet announce an official release date of the 2023 Tacoma. However, the 2023 Tacoma will likely be released in late 2022 or early 2023. The latest incarnation of the midsize truck will be available at Toyota dealerships throughout the United States, as well as in select international markets.
How much does the 2023 Toyota Tacoma cost?
Toyota did not yet release the price information for the 2023 Tacoma. However, given the likely redesign and significant feature upgrades, the 2023 Tacoma will probably cost slightly more than the 2022 Tacoma. The starting prices of the 2022 Tacoma range from $26,700 MSRP for the SR Access Cab trim up to $46,135 MSRP for the TRD Pro Double Cab model.
2023 Toyota Tacoma specs: New engine options

The engines offered for the 2022 Tacoma — the base-level 2.7-liter four-cylinder and available 3.5-liter V6 — are the greatest weakness of the midsize truck. In particular, the V-6 in the 2022 Tacoma has a lower output than all of its competitors that offer a V-6.
Toyota will likely address this weakness for the 2023 Tacoma. Car and Driver indicated that the 2023 Tacoma might offer a turbocharged four-cylinder that’s similar to the 2.4-liter version from the Lexus NX350, which generates 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Also, like the redesigned 2022 Tundra, the 2023 Tacoma might offer a powerful hybrid version of its V6 engine. Toyota will likely eventually release an electric version of the Tacoma as well, but that probably won’t happen until at least the 2024 model year.

Like the 2022 Tacoma, the 2023 Tacoma will have a body-on-frame construction. However, the midsize truck will probably ditch the leaf-spring suspension and replace it with a coil-spring suspension, which provides better handling and a smoother ride.
The 2023 Tacoma will likely offer an upgraded version of its automatic transmission, which is another weakness of the 2022 Tacoma. Also, the Tacoma is the only midsize truck that offers a manual transmission. Given the popularity of the manual for Tacoma enthusiasts, the Tacoma will likely still offer a manual for the 2023 model year.
2023 Toyota Tacoma redesign: What does it look like?
Toyota did not yet release any images or videos of the 2023 Tacoma. However, we expect the 2023 Tacoma to share some of the design elements of the 2022 Tundra. This includes a similar grille, fender bulges, and lighting. Also, the 2023 Tacoma will have the TNGA-F architecture that underpins the 2022 Tundra, as well as the 2023 Sequoia, 2022 Lexus LX, and global 2022 Land Cruiser.
For the interior, the 2023 Tacoma will probably have similar upgrades as the 2022 Tundra. This includes higher quality materials and more modern features, such as the possibility of a larger 14.0-inch touchscreen.
