2023 toyota rav4 tech update launched in australia

Toyota has released more details on the upcoming update to its medium SUV: the highly successful RAV4. Against a backdrop of ongoing delays of up to 18 months for some models, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 arrives in December of this year with a range of technological and safety updates focusing on keeping the car fresh – but predictably, price increases as well.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley spruiked the updates saying that “With a new-generation multimedia system, expanded Toyota Connected Services and additional safety features, the RAV4 has never been more appealing”.

Headlining the update are improvements to the infotainment system. All grades receive Toyota’s new-generation multimedia software that now features in the Corolla Cross and updated Corolla range. It includes cloud-based satellite navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay as standard. GX and GXL grades receive a new 8.0-inch display, while XSE and higher grades receive a larger 10.25-inch display and a new look satellite navigation system.

Instrument clusters across the range are also receiving updates. GX and GXL models are getting new 7.0-inch digital driver’s displays and XSE and above grades will receive fully digital-12.3 inch displays, which can be customised with different data and layouts.

Smaller changes across the range include an upgrade to USB-C for four of the five USB charging points throughout the cabin and a new dual microphone setup for the infotainment system.

Upgrades to safety equipment across the whole range include the addition of intersection turn assistance, which warns drivers or brakes to prevent impending collisions when turning. Emergency steering assist helps drivers to stay within a lane while steering around obstructions.

New reversing cameras with higher quality are standard across the range, and dynamic guide lines – which were previously an XSE and up feature – have been made a standard feature, alongside a redesigned reversing monitor. Cruiser and Edge models also receive an upgraded panoramic view monitor, which shows drivers the terrain beneath their car.

With the addition of a data communication module, all 2023 Toyota RAV4 models now have access to Toyota Connected Services, which includes emergency assistance, automatic collision notification, remote vehicle monitoring and over the air software updates for various software systems throughout the car.
