Subaru has released pricing details on the 2023 WRX compact performance car, starting at $31,625 and maxing out at $44,415.
The entry-level price is for the aptly named “WRX” base model, configured with a manual transmission; whereas the range-topping “WRX GT” takes the top dollar cost, outfitted exclusively with the automatic Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT). Those prices include Subaru’s $1,020 destination and delivery charge.
Speaking of the automatic, the base WRX can be equipped with said transmission for a few grand more, now $33,475 with delivery. It should be noted that all WRX models are powered by the same 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER engine, sending 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to the model-standard all-wheel drive. Active Torque Vectoring is also standard.
Other trims include the WRX Premium, starting at $34,125 with the manual and ending at $36,175 with the SPT; and the WRX Limited, starting at $38,515 and ending at $40,765.
Naturally, each trim comes with a few upgrades over the last. Some of the highlights for the Premium include 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights, a low-profile spoiler and push-button start; the base model’s 7.0-inch infotainment display is upgraded to an 11.6-inch unit. Those who opt for the Limited trim will receive Steering Responsive LED headlights, Ultrasuede seats, a power moonroof, side mirror-integrated turn signals and more.
Perhaps the biggest upgrades that comes with the WRX GT are the electronically controlled dampers, able to be set at Comfort, Normal and Sport. Recaro Performance Design front seats are also included, trimmed in Ultrasuede with red contrast stitching. The GT rides on special 18-inch wheels with 245/40 R18 summer performance tires.
It wasn’t that long ago when we took the 2022 Subaru WRX out for an official MotorWeek Road Test; and we found that much of our favorite WRX characteristics remained in the latest generation, all while improving in the departments of tech, handling and power.
