Land Rover’s new-generation Range Rover Sport has broken cover, and it will arrive in Australia before the end of the year in diesel and plug-in hybrid forms.
Five grades are available across the range – SE, Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition – with petrol power also coming to the 2023 Range Rover Sport sometime next year.
Kicking off with the SE, the most affordable 2023 Range Rover Sport will be priced at $139,160 before on-road costs for the D250 engine – making the point of entry $19,144 more expensive than before.
The Dynamic SE D300 is priced at $151,026, while the Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Editions – all of which use the D350 engine – are priced at $168,638, $191,141 and $196,359 respectively.
The P510e plug-in powertrain is available exclusively on the Dynamic HSE trim, and is positioned at $198,097.
In terms of outputs, all the aforementioned diesels utilise a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, with the D250 tuned to 183kW/600Nm, the D300 producing 221kW/650Nm and the D350s outputting 258kW/700Nm.
The PHEV meanwhile, pairs a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six with an electric motor for a combined output of 294kW/700Nm.
The battery size measures 38.2kWh, and is capable of a 125km driving range before need a recharge. With DC fast charging capabilities, the Range Rover Sport PHEV can top up from 0-80 per cent in 30 minutes.
Though the petrol variants won’t arrive until next year – and are yet to be priced for Australia – there is the P360 (exclusive to the SE grade), the P400 (available with the Dynamic SE and Dynamic HSE) and P530 (optional on Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition variants).
All petrol engines make use of a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six, and produces 265kW/500Nm in P360 form, 294kW/550Nm in P400 and 390kW/750Nm with the P530 designation.
Regardless of petrol, diesel or PHEV, all engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and send drive to all four wheels.
Standard equipment across the line-up includes retractable door handles like in the Range Rover Velar and Evoque, automatic wipers, a deployable tow bar, dusk-sensing headlight, air suspension, LED head- and tail-lights, 21-inch wheels, electronically adjustable front seats with heating front and rear, leather upholstery, and dual-zone climate control.
Handling multimedia duties is a 13.1-inch touchscreen with digital radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support and wireless smartphone charger.
As for safety, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot assist, a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and traffic sign recognition comes standard.
Stepping up to the Dynamic SE adds black-painted brake callipers, different 21-inch wheels and a steering wheel with a unique bezel, while the Dynamic HSE bundles adaptive off-road cruise control, digital LED headlights, 22-inch wheels, illuminated seat belt buckles, cooled seats front and rear, a head-up display, soft-close doors, and upgraded sound system.
For Autobiography buyers, the 2023 Range Rover Sport comes equipped with a contrasting black roof, sliding panoramic roof, dark grey-accented 22-inch wheels, massaging front seats, unique headliner, and four-zone climate control on top of the Dynamic HSE list, while the First Edition scores front foglights, privacy glass, 23-inch wheels and unique interior trim.
The Dynamic HSE plug-in differs from its siblings with the standard inclusion of all-wheel steering, a unique air suspension tune and a two-speed transfer box – the latter of which is also available to other engines for an additional $690.
Other notable options include a black exterior pack ($3327), powered tailgate ($270), a heated steering wheel ($510), first and second-row smoker’s pack ($50), manual rear window blinds ($500), load space partition net ($280), and 11.4-inch rear seat entertainment system ($4150).
