The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE has gone on sale in Australia priced from $134,900 plus on-road costs. The smaller sibling to the EQS electric luxury sedan but still sitting above models like the EQA in the range, the EQE will be offered in three model grades and with up to 626km of driving range on the NEDC standard from a 89kWh battery, while the performance AMG EQE53 4Matic+ pumps out 460kW of power and 900Nm of torque. The EQE is available to order now.
According to the company, “Hot on the heels of the EQS, Mercedes-EQ presents the EQE, the next model series to be based on architecture developed specifically for electric vehicles. Conceptualised as a sporty business saloon, the EQE emulates the high standards set by the EQS for refined pure electric motoring, albeit in a slightly more compact format.”
Under the body of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE300 is an 89kWh battery pack that enables it to travel up to 626km on a charge (NEDC). The EQE300 features a single-motor rear-wheel drive layout making 180kW of power and 550Nm of torque. The claimed 0-100km/h sprint is 7.3 seconds.
The mid-spec EQE350 adds a second motor on the front axle for 215kW/765Nm and a 6.3 second 0-100km/h sprint time. The EQE350’s driving range is a claimed 590km (NEDC).
Finally, the top-spec AMG EQE53 adds more performance, with 460kW/900Nm outputs for a 4.5 second 0-100km/h sprint. The EQE53’s claimed range is 500km (NEDC).
Standard equipment on the entry-level 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE300 ($134,900 plus on-road costs) includes 20-inch alloy wheels, automatic all-LED lighting with adaptive high beam, automatic wipers, keyless entry and start, a 12.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, digital radio, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a fingerprint scanner, a wireless phone charger, a 12-speaker Burmester sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a type 2 CCS charging cable, a three-pin charging cable, a Nappa leather steering wheel and sports front seats with heating.
Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, auto emergency braking (AEB) with intersection assist, lane keeping assistance with lane trace assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitoring, traffic sign recognition, automatic parking, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.
The mid-spec EQE350 ($154,900 +ORC) adds a dual-motor drivetrain and a lip rear spoiler.
The top-spec – for now – AMG EQE53 ($214,900 +ORC) then adds a further performance boost, an AMG exterior treatment, Nappa leather upholstery with heated and vented front seats, air suspension, four-wheel steering and vehicle tracking.
Optionally available for the AMG EQE53 is a $7,400 AMG Dynamic Plus Package, which increases outputs further to 505kW/1,000Nm for an even quicker 3.3 second 0-100km/h sprint time and a 240km/h top speed (up from 220km/h).
