Mercedes-Benz has detailed local pricing and specifications for its all-electric alternative to the E-Class, the EQE electric sedan.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE is now on sale locally and is the brand’s second vehicle on the dedicated Electric Vehicle Architecture, following the EQS liftback.
The Australian range consists of three models including the EQE 300, EQE 350 4Matic, and high-performance Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+.
Pricing starts at $134,900 before on-road costs for the EQE 300, and extends to $214,900 before on-roads for the AMG EQE 53 4Matic+.
AMG EQE 53 4Matic+
The entry-level EQE 300 is equal in terms of price to the E350 sedan, whereas the AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ is $39,500 more expensive than the AMG E53 sedan but $113,500 cheaper than the AMG EQS 53 4Matic+.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 300 is powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 180kW of power and 550Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims it can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds.
The EQE 350 4Matic is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing total system outputs of 215kW and 765Nm. Mercedes-Benz claims it can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.3 seconds.
Finally, the flagship Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ also features a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, but with total system outputs of 460kW and 950Nm. Mercedes-Benz claims it can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds.
The entire EQE range is fitted with a 89kWh battery pack. The EQE 300 has a claimed driving range of 626km according to lenient NEDC testing, the EQE 350 4Matic has 590km of claimed range, and the flagship AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ 500km of claimed range.
Charging can be done with a Type 2 CCS plug, with Mercedes-Benz providing a five-metre charging cable for wallboxes and public charging stations, and a charging cable for domestic power sockets.
The entry-level EQE 300 comes standard with the AMG Line exterior pack, with AMG-inspired body styling, a studded grille, and 20-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels.
It also receives the Digital Light package as standard which includes adaptive headlights, as well as comfort suspension.
AMG EQE 53 4Matic+
On the inside the EQE 300 comes with a MBUX infotainment system, head-up display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Burmester 3D surround sound system, and a wireless phone charger.
It also gets the AMG Line interior package which includes sports-style seats, Nappa leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, and AMG floor mats. Other standard features include heated and power-adjustable front seats, and a panoramic sliding sunroof.
The mid-range EQE 350 4Matic has all the same features the entry-level EQE 300, but it can be distinguished by an AMG spoiler lip.
The flagship AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ adds red-painted brake calipers, Airmatic air suspension, and rear-axle steering.
Inside, it has an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather with AMG shortcut buttons, and “climatised” AMG front seats in Nappa leather.
All EQE models can be connected to Mercedes-Me Connect, which enables a number of remote functions that can be performed from a linked device.
The AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ also has the Guard 360 Vehicle Protection plus package as standard that enables collision detection, stolen vehicle assistance, and emergency key activation.
In terms of safety, the EQE range comes with 10 airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with cross-traffic function, active lane-change assist, active blind-spot assist, active lane-keep assist, evasive steering assist, route-based speed adaptation, Pre-Safe collision detection, adaptive cruise control, surround-view camera, active parking assist, and traffic sign assist.
All EQE models are covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty. The high-voltage battery is also covered for 10 years or up to 250,000km.
