Mahindra is set to launch a new ladder-frame large SUV to take on the likes of the Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, with the Scorpio-N scheduled for a full reveal in late June.
It is currently unclear whether the model will make it to Australia, but the Indian brand did register the Scorpio trademark in early 2019 – which is the model preceding the new Scorpio-N, and will continue on as the Scorpio Classic in overseas markets.
Few details have been revealed about the new model, but Mahindra is calling it the “Big Daddy of SUVs”, and has been “engineered ground-up to meet the aspirations of the young and tech-savvy customers looking for an authentic full-size SUV”.
Powertrain details are yet to be revealed, although the brand is promising petrol and diesel options with a mix of manual and automatic transmission, as well as 4×4 capabilities.
For reference, the Scorpio is offered with petrol and diesel options, headlined by a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel mHawk four-cylinder engine with 102kW/319Nm.
However, there is also a 147kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel with up to 136kW/450Nm engine found elsewhere in Mahindra’s line-up.
The Scorpio-N also boasts “advanced modern features and latest technology”, while also being the new benchmark for the brand’s safety equipment, according to Mahindra.

“With the All-New Scorpio-N, we continue to live and deliver our brand promise of ‘Explore the Impossible’,” he said.
“The Scorpio-N signifies our commitment towards bringing world-class SUVs to the Indian market and creating a delightful ownership experience for our customers.”
Aside from the Scorpio-N, Mahindra also has plans to bring in its XUV700 to Australian showrooms later this year, aiming to capture a share of the popular mid-size SUV market against the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson.
