Italian sports bike marque Ducati has launched the 2023 Panigale V4 R in India with prices starting at Rs 69,99,000 (ex-showroom). The most powerful Panigale in the line-up benefits from various components derived from its MotoGP and WorldSBK Championship race bike. Notably, the 2023 Panigale V4 R is available in two versions: Standard and Racing.
2023 Ducati Panigale V4 R: The Heart
Powering the 2023 Panigale V4 R is a 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine that can deliver a maximum power of 218PS at 15,500rpm and 111.3Nm of torque at 12,000rpm. However, this mill can generate a whopping 240.5PS and can rev up to 16,500rpm in the sixth gear. For this, Ducati offers a racing exhaust by Akrapovic, which boosts the output to 237PS. But in order to unleash 240.5PS, one needs to use specially developed performance oil by Shell that reduces mechanical friction by 10 per cent and offers more power.
It is to be noted that despite improvements in the Desmosedici Stradale R engine, the exhaust system has created restrictions in order to meet the stringent Euro 5 regulation. However, a race-derived Akrapovic exhaust and performance oil can bump up its power.
The engine benefits from new components, such as new intake camshafts, DLC surface coating for pistons for reduced friction, new piston geometry, making five gram lighter and reducing inertia forces, new ‘gun drilled’ connecting rods to improve pin lubrication and reliability in extreme conditions, and new clutch with smaller diameter and axial length.
2023 Ducati Panigale V4 R: Electronics and Features
Ducati has also carried out updates to the electronics of the Panigale V4 R. There are four modes: Full, High, Low, and Medium. The low mode restricts the power output to 160PS and offers a more manageable throttle response to ride on road and low-grip surfaces. Other features include wheelie control, launch control, cornering ABS, quick shifter, auto tyre calibration, engine brake control, slide control, and traction control.
Ducati has equipped the bike with fully adjustable Ohlins NPX 25/30 front USD forks and Ohlins TTX 36 rear mono-shock. Both units have been tweaked. The swing arm pivot point has also been moved upward to increase the height of tail section by 20mm. On top of that, it comes with Brembo Monobloc Stylema M4.30 callipers at the front with a dual 330mm disc setup and a 245mm single disc.
